About Leslieville

Leslieville at a glance

Leslieville is an east-end village that turned over in the last twenty years from blue-collar industrial to one of Toronto's most talked-about brunch strips. Queen East between Carlaw and Leslie is the spine, independent roasters, record stores, tattoo shops, family-run restaurants, and the side streets are narrow Victorian row housing on small lots.

Housing is tighter and older than The Beaches to the south, row houses and semis dominate, with pockets of modern infill. There's no subway; transit is streetcar-dependent, which keeps rush-hour commutes about 25 minutes to the Financial District. Families arrive for the east-end schools and stay for Greenwood Park's summer movie nights and winter skating.

The Vibe

Dog-patio culture at peak summer, tattoo parlours next to artisan bakeries, and a consistent 'we found it before it was cool' energy from residents who've been here since it was just Leslieville. Brunch is a cultural institution. The streetcar is the lifeline.

What's Changing

The Ontario Line subway is in early construction and will reshape the neighbourhood's transit profile when it opens around 2031.
